My body is tired, but my spirit is full because of these last two days. These last two days have been quite full. On Monday, March 1st, Ispoke at the Teachers Institute Day Many, if not most, of the staff and faculty were very receptive to my message of hope. I delivered a keynote to them abouttheir power to change the direction of a student’s life. Then I taught a seminar on Teaching toChange Lives, giving 7 proven principles to improve their effectiveness. The principal and her team were so gracious, and wonderful. I am hopeful that they will change some lives, and reach some little Manny Scotts after our time together.
Yesterday, I spoke at a Convocation. I spoke totwo full assemblies about making the most of life. I got a chance to meet, and celebrate, with the blackhistory club for winning first place in a pretty big competition; I met with the faculty and staff, a gifted group of alternative schoolstudents, some fantastic people who are in the after school tutorial program, and one other group whose name slips my mind at the moment. I poured out so much, but it was soworth it.
The superintendent, is an amazing man, and his team is fantastic. I went in toinspire and motivate them, and they inspired me as much, if not more, than Iinspired them. I rarely see theirkind of diversity around the country, especially in the Midwest. But something special is happeningthere. Way to go Pike!!!
Both of these districts reminded me of the importance of having a clear vision and a great team to help implement that vision. What is your vision, and who is on your team to help you implement that vision. Who shares your values, your mission, vision, and is willing to help you implement your strategy? Partner with those people, and change the world!
