On occasion, I suspect that people wonder whether I am just another "motivational speaker" who delivers a canned message and then leaves my events AND my audiences unaffected.
Rather than doing that, I prepare very diligently for EVERY presentation, making sure that I am ready for the special work that organizations book me to do.
Below is just one example of how real and meaningful the impact is. It is a message from a young lady who who heard me speak, and another message that came, a few days later, from her mother.
The young lady said, "You really helped me today, you made me feel like everything was and is going to be ok. You really touched my heart in ways I can't explain. Thanks to you I look at the world in a whole new different way now..."
A little while later, we received this message from that young lady's mother. She said, "Mr. Scott, I am ---------'s mom. You spoke at her school on Wednesday. Even though I wasn't there, I can testify that your speech honestly touched my daughter's heart. It appears you're able to get through to our youth today in ways that we, the parents or other loved ones, aren't able to. [My daughter] was so filled with emotion when I picked her up...Since hearing your speech, she has reflected on many of the subjects that you talked about...Thank You very much for touching my daughter's heart and all the other hearts you touch as well. I hope you continue to do what you do for a very long time."
I am thankful for the work I get to do every day. It is very hard, draining work; but it is also very good, fulfilling work.
