Sometimes I joke that "I'm gonna miss my Oprah."
I don't watch her every day, or every week, but I do appreciate the excellence with which she teaches, enlightens, helps, and inspires. No, I don't agree with many of her views on spirituality and relationships. But you don't have to agree with everything someone says in order to love and respect them.
That said, her new network is already proving to be a refreshing alternative to much of the cotton candy- tastes good but has no nutritional value- programming that's on television. It is uplifting, positive, and powerful.
What's great is that not only will I not be losing my Oprah, but I'll actually get to have much more of her: her vision, her excellence, her voice. All of that and more is on her new network.
I'm also excited about watching her Master Class, an inside look into the lives and world-views of some of the world's most influential, successful people. I just watched the segment on Jay-Z. Excellent!
He talked again and again about staying true to who you are, your message, your purpose. He talked about searching for truth, and being receptive to it no matter how uncomfortable it is. He talked about the instructive value of failure: you learn more from failure than success. He talked about how one's upbringing shapes their whole life; that social location shapes identity. He also talked about having relationships that keep you grounded, attached to reality. All things that I've found to be true in my life, and in the lessons I teach on the road and in my seminars (along with so much more).
Check the lineup of shows out if you haven't done so. You won't be disappointed. Happy New Year!!!!
