Just got this touching note from a student:
"I'm not gonna lie- the first time you came to speak, I pretty much hated myself and thought my life couldn't be any worse. I have an alcoholic dad and I'm not a huge fan of my home. Then, when you came, you literally turned my life around. I realized my life is pretty amazing...I've become this confident high school junior who wakes up every morning basically loving life and thinking it will be a great day.
You really are an inspiration, and to be honest, without you coming to talk to us, I don't know where I'd be right now- if I'd even be here at all. Basically i just wanted to say thank you, and ask you to keep talking to kids my age. You really do make a difference and you're a great man."
I'm always touched when I get messages like this, because they remind me of how powerful words are. Your words can literally change the direction of someone's life.
