Research-based keynote for K–12 education

BRIDGE
to the Future.

How do we reach young people in the world they’re actually living in, and prepare them to flourish in the world that’s coming?

BRIDGE to the Future helps educators navigate rapid cultural, technological, and economic change without losing the deeply human work that changes lives.

The challenge

The world we’re preparing students for is changing beneath our feet.

The question isn’t whether the world will change. It already has.

Hope is not enough

Hope gives us a reason to move forward. BRIDGE provides a way.

When the world around us changes, we need more than encouragement. We need a way to move forward. BRIDGE gives educators a research-based way to understand disruption, learn what a changing world requires, and adapt without losing who they are.

A research-based framework for adaptation

When the world changes, how do we change with it without losing who we are?

Dr. Manny Scott’s doctoral research examined how highly regarded cross-cultural communicators developed the cultural self-awareness and intercultural competence needed to become more effective and appropriate across cultural differences.

From that research, he developed BRIDGE: a framework for understanding the process of disruption, awareness, learning, adaptation, and contextualization.

The framework

Six stages. One way forward.

B

Breaking

Something disrupts our normal.

What worked before no longer works the same way. Assumptions are challenged. Disequilibrium creates the opportunity for growth.

R

Realization

We become aware.

My normal isn’t everyone’s normal. And what was normal yesterday may no longer be sufficient for the world emerging today.

I

Incarnational Humility

We become teachable.

We recognize the limits of what we know, enter the worlds of others with humility, and become willing to learn.

D

Desire

We decide growth is worth it.

Awareness alone doesn’t produce change. We need motivation to learn, adapt, and become more effective.

G

Growth

We learn what this new world requires.

This is where the Seven Literacies enter.

E

Engagement

We contextualize what we’ve learned.

We apply new understanding in our actual classrooms, schools, relationships, decisions, communication, leadership, and work.

The destination isn’t information. It’s competence.

To become more effective and appropriate in a changing world, educators need more than awareness. They need opportunities to learn, apply, reflect, adapt, and grow.

The Seven Literacies

What an AI-shaped world requires.

To navigate an AI-shaped world, educators need new ways of understanding people, technology, disruption, human capability, value, leverage, and impact.

What your people take with them

They won’t leave with more fear about the future. They’ll leave with a way to navigate it.

See the change

Understand the cultural, technological, and economic forces reshaping students, education, and work.

02

Use the framework

Apply BRIDGE to moments of disruption, uncertainty, and change.

03

Build the literacies

Recognize the capabilities educators and students need for an AI-shaped future.

04

Strengthen the Human Advantage

Use technology wisely while protecting the relationships, judgment, empathy, creativity, and trust that technology cannot replace.

The goal isn’t to replace educators. It’s to increase their capacity to educate.

Use technology to reclaim time, attention, and capacity for the deeply human work that changes lives.

Real results. Real schools.

The ideas matter. What happens afterward matters more.

For more than 25 years, Dr. Manny Scott has walked into schools and districts around the world and reminded people why their work matters. Here’s what educators and leaders say happens next.
